My husband and I had a TERRIBLE experience at this hotel for our honeymoon in September. To start we had NO idea it was a slow season during the first week of September and everything including their restaurant closed at 9pm with no room service or more +food service after that! We also had a terrible experience with the maid staff where they did not leave towels in the room after cleaning it or soap, shampoo, ect, when we walked into our room that day our bed was not fixed and the pillows that were so beautifully on the bed the day we arrived were thrown on the floor. We had to call to get towels to be able to shower.

We had booked through the hotel a sunset cruise that last minute while on the dock we were told, along with many other couples that it was cancelled because they did not realize a private party was booked that day. All in all we did NOT have a pleasant time at Hawks Cay Resort, and before we left we spoke to a manager who offered us 3 days free to try to make up for our bad experience, yet after 3 months of waiting and consistently calling and speaking to person after person we have still not received any voucher and not even an apology for the terrible experience we had, they have NO customer service! And no follow up procedures to ensure things get done. Only stay here if you want to be stressed and not even have one person try to make it better.

We spent our Spring Break at Hawks' Cay Resport in Duck Key Florida, based primarily on the positive reviews of the resrt on this website. The 2 hour drive from Miami to the resort was more pleasant and less stressful than I had anticipated which more +was a great way to start off the trip.

The area in gneral is lush with vegetation and a throwback to less complicated times. What impressed me most is the utter lack of homogenous commercialization in the Keys...loved seeing the roadside mom and pop establishments still in place. Not a Wal-Mart in sight which warmed my heart. It's not grand and glitzy, but, rather, genuine and comfortable.

Hawks' Cay was a very convenient and comfortable place to stay. We rented a villa, a short walk from the main complex. Aside form the mediocre to less than acceptable restaurants in the resort and the S-L-O-W service, the resort was perfect for or famil with 2 young boys. Teh Villa, which we rented through the resort was on the smallish side, and the maintenance was a bit lacking, but still acceptable. We enjoyed going to the nearby state park and walking the coastline and our time at the lagoon and various pools throughout the complex.

The views and weather were truly the only attractions we were after, and we got what we wanted.

We did not stay in the main resort but rather in the condominiums at the entrance of Duck Key. The condo was lovely and spacious 2 bedroom with its own private splash pool. My son loved having his own pool and was in it constantly. We also had more +kayaks dropped off for the week by a local company. The boats were there and thus we could just push them into the inlet anytime. Dive shop and dining were just across the street. Great location especially with small children.

We had stayed at Hawk's Cay several years ago but went back this year after they completed an extensive renovation. The property is truly wonderful...It is situated on over 60 acres on the island of Duck Key which is half way between Miami and Key more +West. The resort has a main hotel which is beautiful and brand new or you can stay in a townhouse style accommodation. There are many pools, one of which has a pirate ship. There is also a lagoon where you can snorkel and kayak. My kids' favorite thing was the on-site Dolphin Program. You can book to feed and/or swim with the dolphins. We also watched them every morning after breakfast. Also highly recommend the sunset sail trip. Our favorite restaurant was at the Marina. Theatre by the Sea is nearby and offers a SeaWorld type of experience.
