If you don't need to be in the center of it all, the Yosemite View Lodge, just minutes from the park's entrance, is the ideal alternative. Unlike the hotels in the park, the rooms here are air conditioned and tend to offer a bit more for your money. The rooms are clean and modern, the hotel grounds that house its 355 guest rooms are extensive and include a swimming pool for the kids, two restaurants and a large gift shop. And although you are technically outside of the park, you are hardly in the middle of nowhere. The Lodge is surrounded by majestic cliffs that lead you into Yosemite.
