Nice Spot for Business Meetings in Brooklyn and Manhattan

by OjeMa

The Aloft Downtown is a typical Aloft Hotel—good beds, friendly staff, and set up for efficiency. Like most NYC hotels, the rooms are small but if you are just in for a night or two, it’s fine. There are nice bars and restaurants all around as well as CVS, Duane Reade. The bar closed early the night I was there but the space looked nice and inviting.

Manhattan visit

We stayed here because it was within walking distance to 911 Memorial Museum. Funky, contemporary decor, friendly staff. Our room was next to guests with 2 barking dogs, who barked as soon as we were at our door to enter the room. The front desk immediately changed our room and gave us all a voucher for a free drink (4 of us). Comfortable beds. My only issue is that there should be more than 1 hook in the bathroom area. I won’t put my clothes on a bathroom floor, so I had layered them all on 1 hook, and tucked the towel on the shower door handle. It’s located on an alley like street, with trash bags from the building across the street all lined up. Not a nice view, but we were out all day both days, so it didn’t bother us. Nice bar, but the bartender could have been a bit more friendly. We weren’t told the bar was closing, but had to ask after she closed up the liquor shelf. She did offer to make another drink, but it would have been nice to know a few minutes sooner, that it was closing. There’s a cute back yard patio right out the glass doors at the bar. Over all, we had a nice stay.
