Reviews

one day in Boston

by DustinR469

Nice modern hotel, clean and got it at a good price!! Decor was nice and I liked the grey theme. Breakfast buffett was good for the price too. The bartender and the front desk girl were great. I stayed on the 6th if that helps and I dont remember their names. I had the clam chowder there and of course the lobster roll. (my 1st time in Boston) The bartender who was working his Wife also works for Marriott if that helps and I think his name starts with J. He made some good recommendations about what to do on our short trip. The front desk also brought up some pillow because for some weird reason I am allergic to pillows. All in all everything was greatand this would have been a 5 star review except for the fact that trying to get out of the garage was a ridiculous process!! It literally took us 40 minute to get out of the damn parking garage. Our ticket needed a stamp and had to speak to like 5 different people until Julia at the front desk helped out. I understand that the garage is not owned by the hotel, but the people i talked to were clueless and that looks bad on you. Julia was nice and understanding and ultimately solved the problem (not that it matters but really cute too... lol) By the time i got to the front desk I was pretty heated and she didnt take it personally I worked for Marriott for 7 years so I know things happen. Im not trying to focus on the negative and I know some of this review is, but its still 4 stars, however when you only have 1 day to see Boston 40 minutes wasted is a lot!! I will stay there again but will not use the garage. Well done on a great staff but please fix the parking situaton.

Third time was a charm....towels.....

Overall, our guest experience was just fine. I resent the outrageous amount that hotels in and around Boston charge, and the fact is, the value here (as well as most other properties in Boston and Cambridge) is poor. Still, I'll rate the hotel as better than average, and that is largely due to the staff.

Our one, unfortunate issue was that there were 4 of us in the room. Three towels. That was night one. We made a request for 4 towels. Night two.... three towels. We made the request again... Third time was a charm... got the 4th towel.

The staff is very friendly and courteous and we thought they did an excellent job of handling the desk, providing directions, and addressing issues. The towel issue wasn't an enormous inconvenience, but it should be noted that we couldn't "solve" the issue ourselves, and it took a little urging to get it right. All's well. No worries.

The location is pretty good. The construction is a bit inconvenient, and the parking charges are ridiculous. I realize that prices of the rooms and the parking are par for the course in Boston.... that said... my word.... it's highway robbery.

Accordingly, although the hotel is nice, and I would rate it well, the fact is, the value is terrible. It is what it is...
