The Chicago History Museum offers families an in-depth look into the history of the Windy City, from the Great Fire to its great sports teams. Kid-friendly exhibits include Sensing Chicago, which invites children of all ages to use their senses to understand the city’s history. Kids can pretend to be a Chicago hot dog, ride a high-wheeled bicycle and even catch a fly ball at Comiskey Park. Additional exhibits to see include Lincoln’s Chicago, Facing Freedom, Chicago: Crossroads of America and Treasures, plus many more seasonal displays.

The Chicago History Museum is open Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $14 for adults, $12 for students ages 13 to 22 (with ID) and free for kids ages 12 and under. All admission rates come with two audio tours. Members of this museum, the DuSable Museum or the National Museum of Mexican Art, get in for free.
