Cox Bay Beach

Cox Bay Beach

Pacific Rim Highway, Tofino

This sandy beach in Tofino is exceptionally long and incredibly wide. Located within Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on the Pacific Ocean, Cox Bay Beach is a popular surf beach. Families can take a lesson here from one of the many surf schools in town, walk the long beach beachcombing or enjoy the large driftwood pieces. Bring a set of binoculars and you may spot a whale out in the water.

Things to Know/Bring: There is public access to Cox Bay Beach but several hotels also line this beach and offer direct beach access. The Pacific Ocean never gets very warm and stays around 50 degrees in Tofino through most of the summer months. Make sure to bring a head-to-toe wet suit if your family plans to surf. Dogs and beach fires are welcome on the beach.

Parking:Two, free parking areas are available for this beach, one of which offers restrooms and showers.
