We have stayed at this resort about 4 times prior to this visit with success. We have used Expedia as well as called directly to book. We had a small problem last visit as we had booked a dog friendly room, and they had booked us in a normal room, however they were able to fix it.
This time was a complete disaster. We booked our room online (4 nights), 6 months prior to our visit. A week before the date, I called to double check our booking (keeping in mind the mix up last time). I was assured everything was in order, correct room location, date, dog friendly. We arrived at the 4:00 check in time and were told that our room was not ready yet. At 6:00 we received a phone call that our room was finally available. When we arrived to check in, we found out that we were in the wrong room. When we spoke to them about it they told me that I had booked it wrong. When I questioned about phoning a week prior to confirm that we had the correct details, I was told they have no control over what I was told over the phone. I was told that they were not able to move us, and that if we chose to cancel they would continue to charge us. In the end they were able to get us a proper room for 2 nights, but we were not willing to stay in the room we were assigned for many reasons (door didn't lock, was connected to the laundry facility, etc..). While waiting to figure the room situation out, two other customers came in to complain about miss booked rooms. I'm not sure if its under new management, or if they've grown to big to have proper customer service, but I won't be returning.
We love getting away to Tofino for Spring Break and always stay at Ocean Village. We love the location, the accommodations and the staff. The rooms are fantastic, the staff are super friendly and helpful and the location is amazing. We love everything about Ocean Village. We've been coming here for the last 9 years.
