Duquesne Incline

1197 W. Carson St., Pittsburgh, 15219, PA

Ride up and down the wooded slopes between West Carson Street and Grandview Ave. in a cable car that’s more than a century old. You’ll admire the restored original craftsmanship in the hand-carved cherry panels, glass windows and the surrounding hardware. On your way up the slope and from the observation deck, you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of Pittsburgh and the three rivers that run through it. This National Historic Landmark also has a gift shop, a waiting room with exhibits and an area to watch the hoisting equipment in motion. You can even make your own souvenir penny to remember your experience.

Strollers aren’t permitted in the cable cars and there are a number of steep stairs as you make your way up to the Lower Station. Children 5 and under ride free. Open year-round.
