On everyone’s wish list is the chance to see an orca whale. Simply head to Lime Kiln Point State Park on San Juan Island and stroll up to the lighthouse. Bring a picnic and sit on the rocks with others and you’re almost guaranteed a sighting of an orca feeding on salmon in the kelp. This is also a good spot to find bald eagles, black foxes, and seals. The best months for viewing orcas are June through September.
