Bird Rock Hotel combines the best of both worlds: a beautiful, historic exterior, combined with a comfortable, clean, and modern interior. You’ll enjoy the hotel’s style and charm, welcoming and personal atmosphere, and convenience of being close to the island’s best attractions. You’ll enjoy sleeping soundly in a custom bed outfitted with organic linens, then waking up to a gourmet continental breakfast with eggs, fruit, yogurt, homemade scones, and more. Return to the hotel in the afternoon to munch on warm cookies, then pay a visit to the off-site heated indoor pool, sauna, and Jacuzzi.
There are only 15 rooms in the boutique hotel, every one of them different. Families will be able to spread out in style in the two-bedroom suite. All units are equipped with free Wi-Fi, as well as soft bathrobes and bath amenities. In many suites you’ll find a gas fireplace, jetted bathtub, and private balcony or patio.
On the island, you’ll find plenty to do, such as whale watching, ziplining, cycling, horseback riding, and other outdoor adventures. The restaurant scene is excellent also: you’ll find nearly two dozen places to eat within three blocks of the hotel. Ask the staff for recommendations or check Bird Rock Hotel’s website to find a list of favorite restaurants sorted by meal type.

We just returned from our Washington vacation, the highlight of which was our stay in Friday Harbor. Our vacation was made all the better by the folks at the Bird Rock. We stayed in the San Juan Suite with a balcony overlooking the harbor. The room was immaculate with a bed so comfortable it was hard to leave it. However, it is the staff that set the place apart. Friendly and knowledgeable. Every recommendation on places to eat or visit were excellent. We will definitely return here on our next trip.
It is a bit noisy, but only because it is smack downtown. Leaving guests wanting for nothing, the hotel provides earplugs for light sleepers. We enjoyed feeling the rhythm of the town from our little perch at the Bird Rock. (pictures taken from the balcony on an iPhone)
This beautiful old building is set on a hill and is beautifully renovated with comfy insuite rooms. The only space available was the Fidalgo Suite upstairs and it was lovely with a window on the front of the hotel. This is a sister company of the clever Earth Box Spa and Hotel. Very enjoyable.
