Lincoln Children’s Zoo

1222 South 27th Street, Lincoln, 68502, NE

It’s a zoo with a lot of hands-on exhibits at perfect levels for the little ones. While it most definitely is not as impressive as the state’s premiere zoo (the world-famous Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha), it’s still a great destination for families visiting Lincoln. Lincoln’s Children’s Zoo opened in 1965 and has been growing since. The zoo now houses more than 350 animals and over 400 species of plants. Guests will enjoy the butterflies and kids will love riding the train that goes along the entire perimeter of the zoo.

Keep in mind that the zoo is not open year-round. The zoo’s season is typically early April through mid-October, closing for the winter months. During the open season, the Lincoln Children’s Zoo is open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is about $9 for adults 13 to 61; about $8 for children 2 to 12 and infants and toddlers under age 2 are free.
