The all-inclusive Barcelo Tambor Beach in Costa Rica offers 402 guestrooms and suites with mini-bars, coffeemakers, balconies and TVs. All come with king or double beds, and the largest can sleep up to six guests.
The fun starts with the beach and quickly moves to the multiple pools, one just for kids with water spray features. There is also the Barcy Club kids’ club for children ages 4 to 12, as well as a Teen House for teens ages 13 to 17. Families will also enjoy mini-golf, water sports, tennis courts, a climbing wall, an amphitheater with entertainment and an adults-only disco. Babysitting is available when needed, as well.
Onsite dining is available at Miyako Japanese Restaurant, El Rancho Steak House, El Tucan Buffet Restaurant, El Palenque Snack Bar and Cocobolo Lobby Bar.
Additional perks include a spa with a plethora of treatments, a fitness center and local trips and excursions.

The hotel is in a great location and the view is priceless, but the road to get to the location is in construction so is not the best. The food was okay we were hoping to have more traditional meals. The majority of the staff is friendly. I will come back to this hotel again!
My Girlfriend and I used to frequent Barcelo Hotels in Costa Rica.
We personally love Occidental Tamarindo and Papagayo,
Initially we make a reservation in Tambor by mistake as we wanted to reservate in Tamarindo so we immediately wrote an email to Bacerlo staff to kindly request to transfer our reservation from Tambor to Tamarindo.
Victor Rangel, Commercial Director as stayed in him email signature told us that we had to pay a money penality for the cancelation so I remember him again that we only wanted to transfer our reservation from one hotel to another. Again Victor Rangel without any sense of kindness just wrote in the email textually: "you will pay the corresponding money penalty"
Facing this situation we decide to spend our vacations in Barcelo Tambor. We accidentally assumed the this will be as great as the other ones but it was our worst experience in an All Inclusive hotel EVER.
Starting with our check-in, a young lady with a very bad customer service gave us the keys of the room but never spent a second to tell us our benefits as Intense Members of My Barcelo.
Constantly we had to remember the staff the benefits that Tamarindo and Papagayo used to give us.
3 hours later of the check-in we received a note on the room that says that we need to go to reception again. Once we came to the reception they told us the we will need to pay more money because the young lady made a mistake in the payment (very bad situation to start a vacations Stay)
Rooms are old and smell bad,
Next days the cleaning room service came to late and didn't even change the towels for a clean ones.
The foods is even worst than the things mentioned above, every time seems that they don't even care about the quality and flavor of the food, we really felt the need to go out the hotel in search of good food, really bad deserts and buffet.
The staff kindness is practically non-existent, always seems that they don't really want to be there, most of them didn't even could respond anything to a simple "thank you" we gave.
At the time of our check-out we had to remember they again about our benefits as Intense Members when they came into our room at 11:00am to clean it without even making sure if we have letf the room, we felt we were expelled.
The only good thing we noted was the entertainment staff at the nights.
