Best Tiny Hotel

by Wanderer473119

I stayed at the end of Fall 2019 shoulder season so my friend and I could visit Mackinac Island. It took a long search to find a hotel that accepts dogs in St Ignace within the price my travel buddy wanted to spend.

The Bayview Motel Lakefront matched our budget at under $90 including the dog fee.

These tiny, knotty pine, retro room fit the bill. Yes the rooms are small, the bathroom tiny, the shower small, but it is a retro hipster’s paradise. They love dogs, the floor is new ceramic wood finish, the beds are very comfy, there’s a reading light for each bed, the view is world class, the heat just fine, the fridge hidden in a custom cabinet, it’s quiet, and I had a deep, long sleep for 10 hours.

Ran the dog in the morning, while chatting with other guests before leaving, thinking I had spent a peaceful night in a mid-century dream.

Extremely Overprices for the quality

We had the lakefront king room with a view of the beautiful lakefront, but that was about all that was great about this place. We paid $170 for the room for one night. The front desk woman was inappropriate (I won't share her private details that she felt the need to tell us), the maid had a barking dog with her the entire day as she cleaned the rooms, the room had sand all over the floor, it smelled like mildew, the TV was difficult to control, and I could barely fit in the bathroom (I'm 5'5" and 130 lbs.). I expected better quality for the price of the room, and we won't be staying here again.
