Mixed review

The location was amazing with great views of Lake Seneca. Room had nice features - jetted tub, fireplace, double shower. Wine and beer tasting were excellent. However, there were also problems. First, I asked to be in the castle and they booked us in the new addition without telling us. Second, their 7 day cancellation policy is ridiculous. Third, when we got to the room there was not facial soap and we tried to call down the phone was not operative. It was hard to get any advice on local restaurants and attractions, too. Food in Edgars Steakhouse was mediocre and pricy.

My wife and I were in the area and made a last minute reservation. Although expensive, we were quite excited upon learning of the mystique and history of the location, and indeed the architecture was impressive. My wife had spa services, we ate in both restaurants (Edgars and Stonecutters), enjoyed a wine tasting, and stayed one night in the Inn. Have to say though, the staff was not friendly and engaging, in fact they seemed grumpy (exceptions being the massage therapist and the bartender for the wine tasting)... the continental breakfast was underwhelming to say the least, the wine was overpriced (hard to understand in wine country) and the room, had a great lake view but the heater was noisy, the toilet was the loudest flush I've ever heard, the water pressure in the shower was weak, and the in room fireplace was nice but made the room smell like propane so we couldn't use it. The entire experience cost well over $700 and frankly it just wasn't worth it. I've been to more luxurious places for much less. My recommendation, save your money...go somewhere else.
