Overview

Located in downtown’s residential Byward Market area, the ByWard Blue Inn offers families a more affordable option to explore museums, cafes, farmers market stalls and more. The 46 recently renovated rooms include private balconies, complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi, a rooftop terrace and rooms with kitchenettes equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, crockery and utensils. The breakfast goes beyond the usual fare to include items like mini quiches and croissants, and guests will enjoy afternoon tea with cheese, crackers, fruit and cookies. Room configurations vary. For families, the best options are two-bedroom suites with one queen bed, one double bed and separate dining area. Other onsite amenities include same-day laundry, covered parking for a fee, or free street parking, and ski/bike storage on your room’s balcony. The hotel doesn’t offer many onsite family extras, but the location can’t be beat and families enjoy it.

Disappointed this time.

This is our 5th time staying here and the previous 4 stays were outstanding but this visit we ran into some issues. This is our first time on the ground floor and it is very noisy. There is some sort of mechanical sound that goes on pretty much all night and I think it is tied into the elevator. We've never noticed this before we were on the upper floors. The pillows are not very comfortable. The tub is extremely slippery and no mat to put down inside it. That being said the staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and you can't beat the location. We will stay here again but will definitely ask for an upper floor unit.

Great location, nice, quiet little hotel.

We have just returned from 5 nights at the Byward Blue. We were very satisfied with our choice: close walking distance to the Byward Market and all its eateries, close to the Parliament bldgs, locks/canal, monuments, cathedral, museum, art galleries, etc . Our room was clean, roomy, with a nice little kitchenette/coffeemaker/dishes/fridge/table/safe. We had a very large and private balcony with table & chairs on the 2nd floor with a view towards the Parl Peace Tower from the front of the hotel which is a small 4 story quaint hotel on a residential (although a little scruffy looking) street. There were other smaller/open/higher up balconies. Ask for what you want. Rooms on the backside overlook a quiet garden. We never used the private sauna. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was good.(Never were around for the complimentary afternoon tea.) Had umbrellas in the foyer to borrow. Wake up call was a knock on your door! Only negatives: We asked twice for decaf coffee for our coffeemaker but never did get any. Odd that you have to request shower mats. Careful, tub/shower can be slippery. They only have very tight and limited parking for about 10 vehicles. It was much easier and a little cheaper to park in the public parkade right next door! It seems to be on a 1 way street but we saw cars going both ways ...
