Wonderful extended stay hotel - but price gouger

by avman67

I am really starting to like Candlewood suites as a concept. The rooms are good sized, a small kitchen is included, most generally have full bathtubs and a good sized bathroom.

This hotel is also pet friendly, but charges for it. Front desk service was extremely friendly. Anything I needed they were happy to answer or take care of. When I couldn't find a cart to bring in all my stuff the manager located one in another area of the hotel and brought it outside for me to use. Candlewood has a nice pantry area where you can go anytime and get snacks, drinks, little meals to microwave and so on. You just fill out a charge slip and it gets billed to the room. The prices are realistic at the pantry as well which I appreciate.

The property is tucked away and can be a bit difficult to find. It is in a quiet area and I did not hear much noise within the hotel either. Even though many had come for the Vikings/Packers game on one of the nights everyone was reasonable with their parties and friendly smiles were had by all the guests as we passed each other in the halls.

Candlewood loses 1 star for this review for price gouging though. The second night of my stay the rate nearly doubled to $178 because of the Packers game up in Green Bay. I'm sorry but this property with limited service and housekeeping is not worth $178 a night. I wasn't even there for the game but had no choice except to pay the inflated rate. Generally Candlewood is much more reasonable with their pricing so this was an unpleasant discovery.

Excellent

Great place! Friendly staff. Very clean rooms and nicely updated. Only thing is, it is hard to find. The front doesn’t face the main road and no big sign. Walking distance to good restaurants. Would stay again!
