Absolutely loved my 2 day stay at Citybox Bergen. The room was perfect for me travelling solo and the hotel was spotless. Was able to check in 3 hours early and left my luggage and used lounge and kitchen facilities on day of departure. Host very friendly. No problems not having receptionist as host is 24/7 if needed. Check in machines very easy to use. Amazing price for Bergen!!
I’m ambivalent about this one. There are good and bad things about this hotel. I will list the pros and cons below. But I think more good than bad (or rather, inconvenient).
PROS: Very clean. And updated. Bed is comfortable. Lightning in the room is good. Has a full length mirror. Ample plug in outlets. Decent size bathroom. Superior lighting in the bathroom. Ample water pressure in the shower. Larger than average shower (by European standards). Super friendly hotel staff. Located conveniently right across the street from the grocery. Also conveniently located just a couple of blocks from the train and bus station, as well as the city center. It has a very nice common area where you can watch television. Did I mention the super friendly staff? They were amazing.
CONS: There is no bar/lounge, but there is one that is adjacent to the hotel. So not really a con, but if the door between the two are locked, you may have to walk around the corner to access the bar. (Not really a big deal, but noteworthy). The built-in night stand beside the bed is very small, but do-able. The floors are a little hard, and don’t seem to have a lot of padding. There is a very small rack that comes with about three hangers where you can hang your clothes. So there is no closet. There is also no dresser with drawers where you can put your things. The tissue in the bathroom is a little on the hard side. Normally that wouldn’t be so bad, if they provided you with soft tissue as well. But they do not. The only soap that is provided, is out of a hanging dispenser beside the sink and in the shower. There is very minimal countertop space in the bathroom. No bathmat is provided. No washcloths or hand towels are provided. And you must request extra towels, because the room only comes with two. But they WILL give you more. But remember, the lighting in the bath really is great! And sometimes that trumps all (at least for me)!
Again, very ambivalent about this. If I was staying here for only one or two nights, it wouldn’t be an issue. But since we were staying for five nights, and prove to be just a little more inconvenient. Overall I think it’s very nice very clean the staff are very friendly. I think if you threw in some drawers and a small closet, you’d be set.
