Clean and affordable, a lakeside location, and with free use of kayaks, boats and bikes, makes the Cottage Haven Resort a pleasant accommodation choice for families visiting Ludington. The cottages are all different but each other plenty of bedding for families of six or more, kitchens, free Wi-Fi and parking. If you and your kids want to be close to the water state park and sand dunes, while also being within a very short drive (or long walk) into downtown, the Cottage Haven Resort Motel could be the perfect and reasonably priced option for you.

A friend asked about renting a room at the resort for a week, and that's when I found out the landlords are only renting yearly because they've retired. Looking for another option I spotted this review site and thought I'd drop my two bits.
We've lived in one of the cottages for a while now, and really enjoy it. It's still a resort on the lake, but we've signed a 1 yr lease at a better price than we saw for sub-par spots closer to Ludington.
The landlords are great and live next door, with property management handled by the office at an apartment complex they also own. Like our neighbors, the water is from a well, and we run it through a filter before drinking. If there's a local option that's better, I'm not aware of it. Wouldn't be surprised if they open back up for seasonal rentals sometime - would be worth checking :)
We stay in a private cottage nearby and pass this resort daily each summer. We stayed here one night 2 summers ago (2015). We've also rented pontoon boats from them. The owners seemed like nice people. I always had a positive impression of the cute resort as a modest, clean & affordable family resort.
