Overview

Opened in 1922 as The Broadview Hotel, the Drury Broadview Plaza continues to maintain a strong presence in downtown Wichita, Kansas. Overlooking the Arkansas River, this historic property underwent a $29-million renovation in 2010, reopening in July 2011. As part of that extensive renovation, the nonsmoking hotel preserved several original features in the building, such as the hand-crafted moldings and tile floor in the lobby. The hotel also preserved the 1,500-square-foot mosaic, “The Advance of Civilization in Kansas,” designed by renowned Native American artist Blackbear Bosin in the Crystal Ballroom.

While families will enjoy the beauty of this historic building, they also will love the modern amenities and services offered to guests. The kids will love the indoor swimming pool where they can swim year-round. Then there’s the free hot breakfast, 5:30 Kickback with dinner entrees, and free soda and popcorn. And, of course, they’ll have the spacious guestrooms outfitted with a microwave, a refrigerator and a coffeemaker. In fact, there’s almost no reason to leave the hotel at all. Except, maybe at check-out.

Great location, beautiful building and attention to detail and comfort

by sdoktay

Enjoyed pretty much every aspect of my stay at the Drury. the shuttle driver was courteous and helpful even for a very late night/early morning (330 am) arrival. Front desk, housekeeping and breakfast buffet staff were all wonderful Good food for breakfast. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and wifi was speedy. I will stay here again next time I am in Wichita,

Wonderful facility

by doctor4ever

I have never had the privilege of staying at a Drury hotel before this past week. What a gem! This hotel is the bees knees. It is right on the river walk in downtown Wichita which was a wonderful location. They have a happy hour every night from 5:30-7 with THREE FREE DRINKS. Great opportunity to meet people. That's what I had for dinner every night. It is a wonderful staff that is super friendly. I asked for an allergen free room and they did that. Wonderful.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Check-In/Check-Out
Check-in time is 3 p.m., with check-out at 11 a.m.

Parking
The hotel offers covered parking in a garage across the street for $8 per night plus tax. Rates may be higher during special events. The parking garage is accessible from the hotel via a covered walkway. Guests must check-in at the hotel before entering garage. Room key will be required for entering the garage by car, and also to enter the hotel from the garage.

Fitness Center
The 24-hour fitness center features four treadmills, one exercise bike, two elliptical machines, free weights, four weight machines, an exercise ball and exercise mats. Towels and water are provided. No one younger than 16 is permitted in the fitness center. Guests must use room key to access the fitness center.

Pets
The hotel welcomes dogs and cats to the property, with a limit of two pets per room. There is a daily cleaning fee of $15 per room plus tax. Service animals are welcome free of charge.

The Art of Smart Timing
The Drury Broadview Plaza stays very busy during April, October and the summer months. You'll find better availability from November through March. In general, January and February are the coldest, snowiest months. Because it's the hotel's low season, you'll find the best rates from November through February.

Getting There
The Drury Broadview Plaza is just 10 minutes from Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (ICT), and the hotel provides complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle service. However, you should arrange shuttle service in advance. For those driving, the hotel is located just minutes from U.S. Highway 400 off of Interstates 135 and 235.

Getting Around
Although the hotel does not offer complimentary shuttle service around town, there are many attractions, restaurants and nightlife hot spots within walking distance of the property.

Also, Wichita does have a free downtown trolley called the Q-Line that operates year-round during peak evening hours: Monday to Thursday, from 6 to 10 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight. On Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m., the trolley runs a museum route that takes visitors from area stops to the many museums in Wichita. While there are nine designated stops along the route, you also can flag down the trolley at any intersection along the route. You can exit the trolley at any time by pulling the cord to notify the driver. The entire round-trip route through the city takes approximately 20 minutes. The front desk can provide a route map for the trolley.

For exploring beyond the immediate proximity of the hotel and out of the trolley reach, a car is recommended.

For Mom and Dad
For parents who find themselves kid-free for a few hours, head downstairs for a glass of wine during the 5:30 Kickback before making your way to Avi Seabar & Steakhouse for an intimate dinner for two. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll behind the hotel along the Arkansas River.
