Honeymoon stay

by SarahJGabriel

Booked to stay on honeymoon for five nights. We had requested a high floor in a quiet location which I understood was subject to availability. On arrival we were a bit disappointed to find we had been given a room overlooking the street, although we had been upgraded 2 bedroom and we had only booked a one. I did ask if we could be moved but unfortunately they were fully booked but did offer to move us the following day as there may be rooms available then. The room was ok, you could hear some street noise with cars etc going by but decided it wasn’t worth the upheaval to move. We were kindly left juice and water in the fridge plus a few others bits and pieces. The bed was comfortable, good amount of storage space, gorgeous L’Occitaint toiletries, soft towels, plenty of hot water. We did find that the hotel was a little bit warm, the coolers in the room didn’t seem to do much but we were lucky to have some hot weather for that time of year! There was a Lidl which was barely 5 minutes’ walk away and lovely large fridge if you wanted to do self-catering. There was a shopping centre and restaurants within walking distance and easy access to both the metro and trams to get you into the centre. The complimentary breakfast was superb, great selection of breads, pastries, cold meats, cheese, salad, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and hot offering of scrambled eggs, mini frankfurters and baked beans. There is a freshly squeezed juice of the day plus regular juices, teas and coffees. We actually spoke to the hotel manager one day in there who was very pleasant and asked about our trip to Budapest, mentioned we were on honeymoon and he asked our room number, we were delighted to find a bottle of local champagne when we got back later in the day! We had the same young man on reception nearly every day who was really helpful and friendly. We would certainly recommend this hotel and would look to return in the future as Budapest has so much to offer and this hotel was perfect for us.
