1. Grand Fiesta Americana Punta Cana Los Corales, Dominican Republic
The first Dominican Republic resort for the Grupo Posadas Brand, beloved across Mexico, is this sprawling 554-room property, located 20 minutes from the airport in Punta Cana. Located in the coastal town of Playa Bavaro, the $130-million, five-star property will offer top-notch dining, as well as included beach activities such as snorkeling, paddleboarding and kayaking. The brand is particularly known for its warm hospitality and excellent dining options that feature local and international fare. The Grand Fiesta Americana Punta Cana Los Corales is expected to open in late-2019.
2. Paradisus Playa Mujeres, Mexico
Spanish hotel group Melia Hotels International is opening the brand’s fifth Paradisus property in Playa Mujeres, Mexico, just 35 minutes from the international airport in Cancun. Expected to open in April, the 498-room resort will front its own private beach, with four onsite swimming pools, six bars, seven restaurants, a spa, marina and beach club just for adults. Families who splurge on the property’s elevated room categories will gain access to a special Family Concierge for planning group activities, as well as private butlers to take care of conveniences like laundry, ironing, and restaurant reservations.
3. Royalton Cancun Resort & Spa, Mexico
Slated to open in early 2019, this brand-new Royalton outpost will have all the contemporary style and excellent included dining options loyal guests have come to expect from the brand. Located about 30-minutes from Cancun’s main tourist strip, the property will front a private white-sand beach and has amenities families love, including a kids club, unlimited a la carte dining, and water sports such as snorkeling, kayaking and paddleboarding. The property’s architectural highlight will be the 15th floor SkyClub Rooftop Pool & Bar, with views of Cancun’s sparkling lagoon and entertainment strip in the distance.
4. Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana, Dominican Republic
Fans of the Hyatt Ziva (all ages) and Hyatt Zilara (adults only) concept from the properties in Montego Bay, Jamaica and Cancun, Mexico, will be excited to learn about this opening in the private community of Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic. For multi-generational travel that guarantees togetherness with an adults-only escape for the people in your entourage who can swing it, a stay at Ziva and Zilara really can’t beat. In addition to multiple pools, the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana will have a huge water park with slides for adults and kids alike, a lazy river, and a splash pad for the little ones. And the included dining options will include everything from Italian and Asian/Mongolian to fast food–plus an old-school diner outlet with ice cream sundaes for kids who’ve earned them! The resort is expected to open in November, 2019.
5. Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda, Dominican Republic
Opening in late 2019 in the untouched paradise of Michès—about 90 minutes northwest of Punta Cana on the Dominican Republic’s northeastern coast—this Club Med will be the brand’s first 5 Trident (read: five star) resort in the Caribbean. The property will sprawl oceanfront across 93 acres, with four “boutique villages,” each with a distinct style and appeal, including one that’s an adults-only enclave (we’re looking at you, grandparents). Among the activity offerings are treetop yoga classes, whale watching in nearby Samaná Bay, and flying trapeze and archery school. And, of course, Club Med’s kids’ club for ages 4 months through 17 years is also part of the all-inclusive deal.
6. Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos, Mexico
Slated to open around May 2019, this new all-inclusive Hard Rock hotel is bringing families a new option on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. With a desert-meets-the-sea vibe, all rooms here will have beach views, and the Los Cabos property will boast five swimming pools, as well as the awesome Roxity Kids Club, complete with a bowling alley and tennis and basketball courts. Special family suites have two connecting rooms, one with a king bed and the other with two doubles. But the ultimate splurge is the swim-up oceanfront suites, also with two bedrooms, and with direct pool access.
7. Royalton Antigua Resort & Spa, Antigua
Just 30 minutes from the airport on the spectacular sheltered beach at Deep Bay, Royalton’s new Antigua outpost (early 2019) will lure families to this island famous among the sailing and yachtie set. The property will be home to the Royalton brand’s first-ever onsite microbrewery, the Score Brewhouse. Families can look forward to spending time at the property’s pools or lovely beach, where included water sports span the usual non-motorized range of Hobie Cats, kayaks, paddleboards and snorkeling.
8. S Hotel Montego Bay, Jamaica
Opening in January 2019 right on Doctor’s Cave Beach on Montego Bay’s Hip Strip, this new resort will have an all-inclusive booking option that includes food and beverage only. And if you’re looking for a Montego Bay all-inclusive resort that’s less-compound like than the massive hotels and within walking distance of shopping and other dining options, this might be what you’re after. Just five minutes from the international airport, the 120-room hotel has a contemporary vibe, an oceanfront pool with swim-out cabanas, and the cool onsite Irie Baths and Spa, where subterranean plunge pools are part of the wellness offerings. The beach, just steps from the rooms, is among the prettiest in the area.
9. The Farmstead at Royal Malewane, South Africa
Families with a South African safari on their bucket list for 2019 can consider the new Farmstead, a 3.5-bedroom private villa, perfect for families set on the Royal Malewane property. The property occupies an elevated perch overlooking Greater Kruger National Park. In addition to the new Farmstead, the property has three luxury farm suites for families, complete with private pools overlooking the bush. Rates are all-inclusive of game drives and food and beverage. Do note that while the farm suites are open to families with kids 10 and older only, families of all ages can stay in the Farmstead villa. It’s set to open in May, 2019.
