Thinking about an all-inclusive resort vacation in Mexico? We’ve chosen our favorite all-inclusive Mexico family resorts for 2021, with family-specific amenities, accommodations, reviews, and ratings in mind. Plus, we’ve personally visited them and are here to tell you they really are as good as they seem.
These are the best all-inclusive Mexico resorts for families in 2021.
1. Generations Riviera Maya – Riviera Maya
Generations Rivera Maya offers the Eko Kids Club with arts and crafts, gaming consoles, books, and games for children ages 4 to 12; the Little Eko Chefs program in which kids can learn to cook simple, delicious meals; and the Teens Club with a social media center, movies, billiards, and more for ages 13 and up… and that’s just the kids’ clubs. Other highlights for families include family-themed in-room dining at night for those staying in the one-, two- , or three-bedroom suites; a designated family lounge with a library and reading area; baby amenities such as cribs, strollers, bottle sterilizers, and even baby food; a kids’ pool (plus two other swimming pools); family dinners on the beach… we could keep going. Take advantage of the onsite babysitting or private nanny services and treat yourself to a massage at the Náay Spa.
2. Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun – Cancun
Fiesta American Condesa Cancun lives up to its name with fun for the whole family. The beachfront resort fully embraces Mexican culture, which guests can enjoy through food, music, and more. Don’t miss the poolside Mexican Fiesta, with costumed performers, churros, balloons, and other treats! Families interested in local culture will love it here, like excursions to Chichen Itza, Xcaret, and more are available with tours leaving right from the property. The all-inclusive rates include kids’ and teen clubs, entertainment on select evenings, an incredible range of dining options, and modern, spacious guestrooms with balconies.
3. Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun Resort & Spa – Cancun
In 2019, Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Bach Cancun Resort & Spa launched an all-inclusive option called U by Grand Fiesta. The all-inclusive package covers overnight accommodations in a luxury oceanfront suite with private terrace; gourmet meals at the resort’s award-winning restaurants; unlimited premium brand and signature drinks; and access to all of the resort’s activities and amenities, including the swimming pools and decadent spa. Grand Fiesta Americana Coral beach also offers one of the best resort kids’ clubs we’ve seen, with features including a water park; dinosaur-themed area with “fossil digging”; a makeup room, costumes and stage for performances; a kitchen for cooking fun; and so much more.
4. Fairmont Mayakoba – Playa del Carmen
An AAA 5-Diamond resort, the Fairmont Mayakoba offers an all-inclusive package with unlimited dining and premium beverages; beach service; and beautiful accommodations with complimentary in-room mini-bars. The package allows up to two children to stay free in a room with their parents. For kids ages 6 to 17, meal plans are available for a promotional price; kids under 5 eat free. All-inclusive rates also cover three complimentary hours at the kids’ club daily for children between age 5 and 11. Note that very few accommodations are located right on the beach (but let’s be real—your kids won’t mind after they get a load of the giant pool with waterslide). Instead, this all-inclusive resort is located in a lush jungle of mangroves, canals and lagoons (on which you can take boat tours and in some cases, reach your guestroom!) that have been preserved to protect the local environment.
The Grand Residences Riviera Cancun wins us over with its spacious suites for large families. The largest accommodations offer three bedrooms, and all suites have kitchenettes or full kitchens, as well as private terraces or balconies. Some also have washing machines and dryers. Onsite restaurants, a kids’ club for children ages 4 to 12, an activity center with water and land sports equipment, pools, a spa, and a stunning location in Puerto Morelos (near Cancun) round out the appeal for families.
6. Paradisus by Melia Playa del Carmen
The oceanfront Paradisus by Melia Playa del Carmen offers both adults-only and family-friendly options. Book The Reserve for access to adults-only restaurants, lounges, and beaches (along with exclusive amenities and specialized concierge services). Meanwhile, families can enjoy fun extras for kids like a milk and cookies turndown service or in-room video game set-up.
7. Hotel Xcaret Mexico – Playa del Carmen
Hotel Xcaret Mexico isn’t just an all-inclusive resort; it’s a true family vacation destination! Sure, families who book the ALL-FUN INCLUSIVE® experience enjoy free airport transfers; overnight accommodations in chic guestrooms and suites (some with swim-up features); delicious meals; swimming pools; and access to the beach. But they also get access to the following attractions: Xcaret, Xel-Ha, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xavage, Xoximilco and Xenses, as well as Xenotes and Xichen tours. Transportation between parks is included, too.
8. Grand Velas Riviera Maya – Riviera Maya
One of the most luxurious all-inclusive resorts in the world, Grand Velas Rivera Maya is the ultimate escape, with amenities for every age. Grand Velas Riviera Maya has a Baby Concierge, so you can request everything from baby’s first haircut to nanny services to infant amenities in your room. Little ones can learn Spanish and make balloon animals while tweens can rock out in Guitar Hero tournaments. And teens will be thrilled with the resort’s chic teen club, as well as its Instagram photo tours. When you find your stomach rumbling after a day of activities on the beach, head for one of the many onsite restaurants, each serving a different cuisine—you can have Spanish-inspired dishes for lunch and then Italian for dinner. Plus, there is 24-hour room service in your spacious, 1,270-square-foot suite for those must-have, late-night snacks. Grand Velas has other resorts in Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.
9. Beach Palace Cancun – Cancun
With nearly 50 of the resort’s 287 rooms dedicated as Family Suites, the Beach Palace Cancun is an easy choice for families. Now consider that 20 of those suites come with three hours of nanny service, and it becomes one of our favorite all inclusive Mexico resorts for families! The Beach Palace Cancun also features a kids’ club, complimentary shuttle service to the nearby water park, a teen disco, video game tournaments and special kids’ menus, not to mention a wide expanse of beach and beautiful pool.
10. Moon Palace – Cancun
One of three connected properties, the Moon Palace Cancun connects to the Nizuc and Grand Moon resorts with shared programming, dining and amenities, meaning more bang for your buck when staying in Cancun. The resort features seven outdoor swimming pools, a kids’ club, a teens’ club, extra amenities for families, family suites with nanny service (like its sister, Beach Palace Cancun), kids’ menus and more—all right on the beach and within minutes of Cancun International Airport.
11. The Royal Haciendas – Playa del Carmen
The Royal Haciendas is separated in two halves, with many of the amenities doubled—which means guests don’t have to walk far for restaurants and pools. Plus, the resort never feels crowded. The family rooms can comfortably fit groups of three to six and contain family dining areas and balconies, many with gorgeous views of the ocean. There are so many family activities on offer at The Royal Haciendas, from the dedicated kids’ and teen clubs, to yoga and diving. There’s a fully stocked mini supermarket onsite for necessities, and there’s a good selection of quality restaurants. The hotel owners go out of their way to upkeep the surroundings at this resort, and vacationers will discover the real jewel of the trip to The Royal Haciendas is the incredible beachfront with six pools in which to swim.
12. AZUL Beach Resort – Riviera Maya
AZUL Beach Resort is one of the many Karisma Hotels and Resorts properties dotting the Mexican Riviera, but this one is our favorite. The smallest and quietest of the bunch, AZUL Beach feels like an oversized spa, yet welcomes families with open arms. We especially love the resort’s Azulitos Kids program, which features interactive and exciting activities for everyone from toddlers to preteens.
13. Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa – Tulum
Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa provides something for every age group, from kids’ clubs and an ocean trampoline for youngsters (OK, maybe adults too) and a lovely spa and cocktail-making classes for parents. Of course, there’s a plethora of activities for the whole family to enjoy together, such as water sports, swimming pools, dance lessons and themed dinners. The resort offers a wide array of accommodations, including an adults-only section—we’re looking at you, grandparents.
14. Seadust Cancun Family Resort – Cancun
Seadust Cancun Family Resort is a paradise for families, with ziplining, rock climbing, pools, a water park and of course, a pretty stretch of beach—all covered in nightly rates. Water sports, diving excursions, an expansive fitness center and a spa with kids’ treatments are also offered at this all inclusive Mexico family resort, formerly the Great Parnassus Family Resort. There are a total of 505 spacious suites with free Wi-Fi.
15. Club Med Cancun Yucatan – Cancun
One of the first names in family-friendly, all-inclusive fun, Club Med Cancun Yucatan always has families in mind. The luxury resort offers oceanfront Family Suites, a playground, fantastic kids’ clubs for various age groups, water sports, a lounge for nightly entertainment and a reservation-only restaurant. The resort is also known for its friendly “GOs” (Gracious Organizers), who act similar to luxury camp counselors, organizing special activities and making guests feel welcome. Let’s not forget the flying trapeze, either—a unique, can’t-miss opportunity included in rates!
16. Club Med Ixtapa Pacific – Zihuatanejo
Head to the Pacific coast of Mexico and for an all-inclusive experience your family will love. Club Med Ixtapa Pacific offers age-specific kids’ clubs (starting with babies); two swimming pools; land-based activities including Club Med’s iconic flying trapeze; nightly entertainment, and of course, a pretty beach. Bonus: In-room babysitting services are complimentary! Take advantage and make reservations for a romantic dinner at The Luna Azul.
17. Binniguenda All Inclusive – Huatulco
Looking for a unique all-inclusive family vacation in Mexico, perhaps somewhere less popular than Cancun? Consider a stay at the Binniguenda All Inclusive in Huatulco. This intimate resort offers an outdoor pool and kiddie pool, kids’ club and playground, as well as a sports court and nightly entertainment. The resort is a short walk from the beach and city center, offering guests the best of both worlds.
18. Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos – Los Cabos
The oceanfront Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos offers three infinity pools, a water park, kids’ club for ages 4 to 12, live entertainment, and seven restaurants from which to choose. Families love the modern, spacious suites, some of which have swim-out features! Hyatt Ziva also has all-inclusive family properties in Puerto Vallarta and Cancun.
19. Hard Rock Riviera Maya – Riviera Maya
If you have music-loving tweens and teens, the luxurious Hard Rock Riviera Maya is an all-inclusive vacation must. Not only can you request an in-room Fender guitar or Crosley record player with a curated collection of vinyl, but you can also visit the onsite water park, take a dip in a number of swimming pools, or sunbathe on the beach. For an extra fee, enjoy a little family competition at Woodward, the resort’s state-of-the-art sports complex.
Must-Have Travel Items for the Season
Traveling with kids can be stressful, but bringing the right gear can help your trip run smoothly. First and foremost, don’t feel the need to lug more than one piece of luggage to the airport—it’s pointless! Pack everything from kids’ swim shoes to mom’s new chic swimsuit inside Away’s Large bag, the most indestructible suitcase on the market that’s built to last a lifetime. If you’re traveling with kiddos who are transitioning from a sippy cup, the insulated Hydro Flask is awesome for parents and children alike for its stay-cold design and leakproof lid (because we don’t want any messes on vacation). Lastly, ditch the diaper bag for a cute all-black, sustainable travel tote that’ll hold everything you need, from pacifiers to iPads.
