Overview

Hermitage Bay is a luxury, all-inclusive resort located right on a secluded hillside beach. The resort has 27 individual suites scattered across the beach and nestled in the hillside. There are three suite types: hillside, beachfront and garden. Hillside suites are the most secluded and each feature a private deck and plunge pool overlooking the ocean; beachfront suites offer split-level accommodations complete with open-plan living and sleeping area and outdoor dining area, and are nearest to the beach, restaurant and pool; garden suites are identical to beachfront suites, but are situated behind then, making them just a bit further from the beach.

Once per week, the resort hosts a cooking class and also offers farm tours. In addition to the pool, there is a fully equipped fitness center onsite, and watersports including paddleboarding, kayaking and Hobie Cats are available right at the resort. Three meals per day, as well as snacks and a nightly cocktail hour are included in rates, as are premium liquors and wine. Airport transfers and Wi-Fi are also included.

Year-round, children ages 14 and older are permitted at the resort, and children 8 and older are permitted seasonally in July and August, as well as in the month of December.

Best Vacation

by oxfordmama

My husband and I recently returned from a 5-night stay at Hermitage Bay to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We read all of the reviews and researched extensively before choosing a resort, as this was such a special occasion for us. I am happy to report that Hermitage Bay met or exceeded all of our expectations and was truly the trip of a lifetime for us! I can echo all of the reviewers who have said that the setting is BEAUTIFUL, the views are amazing, the food is wonderful, and the people are just lovely. Everything was perfect even down to the small details such as great coffee and bath products that smelled heavenly.

Since so many reviewers have discussed the views, food, etc, I’ll touch on a few different topics that might be of interest.

The grounds: It was not obvious to me when looking at the pictures online that the entire property is manicured and beautiful, which it is! Every walkway and common area is tended and kept with flowers and shrubs, so that you feel as though you are walking through a garden as you travel throughout the property. In addition, we were enamored by all of creatures native to this tropical area. The hummingbirds, tree frogs, mongooses, and even the African snails were interesting and beautiful in their own way as part of the natural environment.

Hiking/exploring: There is a “development” on the property adjacent to Hermitage Bay called Pearn’s Point (really just a road - no ongoing construction) where you can hike and explore. We highly recommend trying this out if you like to exercise and be active on vacation. The hills provided a great workout and it was fun looking around the property. There is one road that takes you to the top where you will find panoramic views of the area. There is another road that will take you all the way around the point, and if you are willing to venture out off of the paved road you can find a number of gorgeous, undeveloped beaches to enjoy. I believe Pearn’s Point is open to the public from 6 AM to 6 PM. We even took the kayak out from HB to revisit some of these beaches on a different day because they were just so beautiful.

Coffee: We are early risers, so I was concerned when I saw that the restaurant did not open until 7:30 for breakfast. No worries though, as they were happy to deliver our coffee to us early. And what a treat to enjoy a cup of coffee on our balcony overlooking the Caribbean every morning!

Rooms: We chose a hillside room and loved it so much. We stayed in both rooms 37 and 39 and highly recommend both. The view from 39 looks out over the resort and the water, while the view from 37 is off to the side and includes Jolly Harbour. Both rooms were great.

We truly loved our stay at Hermitage Bay so much. I think this resort is perfect for anyone looking to relax, enjoy nature, spend time with your significant other, and be pampered all in a beautiful, upscale setting. We hope to return soon!
