Awful and filthy stay

by holmanle

From the start of our stay this hotel was a nightmare. I booked a king room for our night there. When we arrived, we were placed in a double room. It was filthy and had the most horrible stench of marijuana when we entered. I immediately returned to the desk and told the young man about being placed in the wrong room and the horrible stench. His attitude became very short, almost cutting me off as I was explaining. He stated that we were placed in a double room because that is all that they had available (even after booking a king room). I was even verbally scolded for booking on hotels.com rather than their website. After explaining both issues, the young man placed us in a different double room. We had been traveling all day and were too exhausted to deal with anything else at this point. When we arrived in the second room, things still continued to go downhill. The sheets on one double bed were very evidently dirty. There were stains and hair in the sheets. We moved over to the second double bed in the room, this one appeared to be clean. Like I said, we were too exhausted to keep moving around. Next we found dried tooth paste on the stopper in the sink and long hair in the shower. The next day we couldn’t wait to leave. Upon checkout we voiced our concerns, once again brushed off. This young girl told us a manager would contact us to make things right. Obviously, this did not happen. This was one of the worst stays we have ever had, if not the worst.

We love travelling to western North Carolina during all the seasons. We use this hotel as our base. On the first trip it was a little difficult to find-it is on a hill, but once familiar, it is the best and very easy to enter and exit even during peak traffic. Very family oriented with a pool inside and out-they connect, breakfast area, grill area and bar. Quiet hours are posted.
