The bar pushes it over the line

by ArtistApart

The hotel is good, a solid very good in fact. The beds aren't new, the halls could use some modernization, but the bar (and the Bartender) push this into excellent.

First, everything is clean and quiet, which is pretty great in NJ. But the bartender, the service from the staff and the options available really push this over the limit- plus a breakfast that isn't the run of the mill Holiday Inn faire! I stayed here regularly with work travel and as our options were limited by the travel company, this was by far the best of the lot with central location to the city and most of the North Jersey locations I had to visit. This is my go-to choice for the dollar available.

Cheap...But you get what you pay for.

Chose this property as a place to stay the night before heading into the city for the weekend. Was only in the hotel for approx. 10 hrs (10p-8:30a). This property is very dated and needs to either be totally gutted and renovated or leveled and rebuilt. The staff was very nice and friendly though. That is the one good thing I can share on this property. Had to park in the parking garage below the build which was very scary at night. The property itself resides off a busy highway and in a not-so-nice part of town (very shady). The property does not show well from the outside and does not get better when you enter. It's very old and needs updated. Again, you get what you pay for. Breakfast in the morning was hot and eggs were good. Not a very appetizing space to eat though. The room was cold and I felt as if I was in a basement hall or something. The woman working the room though was very nice and was attentive to the food area keeping it clean.. This did not live up to the Holiday Inn brand that we've stayed previous. Come to think those were Holiday Inn Express so maybe this is the lower level of the brands?
