Just three blocks from the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park, the Holiday Inn – West Yellowstone provides a wealth of family-friendly accommodations and amenities that provide a comfortable resting spot when not exploring the park. Guestrooms include either king or queen beds, a flat-screen TV, a microwave, a refrigerator, and free Wi-Fi. Deluxe suites include these amenities as well as a gas fireplace and a wet bar. But it’s the family suites that families (obviously) will love. These accommodations include a separate master bedroom and three queen beds. For mealtimes, The Branch Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner, while The Branch Bar serves lunch and dinner. Room service is available from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Plus, up to four kids, 12 and younger, eat free at any Holiday Inn onsite restaurant any time of the day. Kids ages 12 and younger also stay free when sharing their parents’ room. Another hotel favorite with families is the indoor heated pool and whirlpool as well as the onsite game room.

First, I want to mention that we were at this hotel in "high" season. Second, I want to mention that we thought the cost of this room was nothing less than "price gouging" even if it was "high" season. We paid in July a total of $375.00 for one night. Outrageous! We paid the same amount for a room in Manhattan, New York City. At least in New York we got an excellent free breakfast with our visit, it was steps from Penn Central Station, had a roof top bar with a glorious view, and handy to the subway. At the Holiday Inn West Yellowstone, there was no roof-top bar, no glorious view, drove our own car, and they said there was breakfast next door at a 20% discount. Really? For $375.00....no free breakfast? That was the icing on the cake after a long, hot day.
Many will say...well, you accepted the price (over the phone) and it was in prime time. I agree, we did: 1.) thinking the other comparable hotels would be booked 2.) the town would be swamped with people searching for rooms. Neither was true by a long shot. It was our assumption error and it cost us.
Do your homework and plan (if you can-which we couldn't) way in advance of arrival and search for deals less costly. This was a typical room and facility Holiday Inn offers countrywide, though, I believe, renovated.
That said, the following is our observance:
Location is excellent for entrance into Yellowstone at the west gate
Newly appointed decor and fixtures
Fan in bath
Plenty of parking in front of and in the back of the facility
Bathroom on the small side
Free ice cream treats in the afternoon
Walking distance to town and restaurants (other than the one next door)
gas station near by

Close to everything, a game room with air hockey etc. for kids, nice clean pool area, and huge rooms. Rustic decor. Friendly staff, good restaurant. Everything was great about this hotel and I would recommend it for families.
