Again so happy at Villas de Palermo

by RS4045

My husband and I just spent 2 months at Villas de Palermo, for one month our daughter and her family joined us. This was the second year we went there and we really enjoyed our stay. The restaurant, the services, people being soooo kind :) Of course "the situation" in Nicaragua made the shuttle and the restaurant a little bit less available than last year, but the kindness of the personnel made us forget that! We felt very safe all the time, very welcome and we really hope to go back next year !

Recommended but be aware

I just returned from a month’s stay at Palermo. The villas are beautiful, well maintained, and have fantastic views. The pool area is pristine and again offers an outstanding view. Staff is friendly and attentive and could not have been better. It really is a very, very nice place.

The resort is both isolated from and a solid 40 minute walk to town, however, invariably in the heat, and it’s not a pretty or easy walk either. Definitely not what I expected. And while the resort offers a shuttle, they’ve cut back on the hours that it operates - and without telling me in advance - because of low occupancy due to the recent political crisis in the country, and the cost of cabs to and from town can really add up. Finally, while again the staff can’t be beat, the restaurant is expensive for what you get and there are many, many better options in town. I spent $15 for eggs, gallo pinto, orange juice and coffee, and for San Juan del Sur that is a LOT of money.

The bottom line is that if you’re looking for very nice and quiet accommodations away from town, Palermo can’t be beat. Just be aware that that is what you are going to get: very nice and quiet accommodations away from town.
