Overview

Spread across 17 acres and nestled on a lake, the Schloss Leopoldskron is a regal property that was established in 1736. Formerly a palace, the hotel features 55 rooms in the 2014 restored Meierhof building, 12 suites in the former palace, and two townhouses, available to rent. In the Meierhof, rooms are either singles or doubles of varying sizes. Superior Doubles and Premium Doubles provide sitting areas with sofas. In the palace, 12 individually designed suites are available, many with sitting areas and couches, although more ornate in style. Families should request Meierhof rooms or rent the townhouses, which provide more room.

All guests receive a full buffet breakfast daily, a bottle of mineral water, bicycle rentals, mini-golf, parking and free Wi-Fi. Vespas are available to rent, and the property features a swimming pool. The Meierhof Café is open for all day quick pastries and bits from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. The property does not offer a full restaurant, but partners with Weiher Wirt restaurant, a five-minute walk to the opposite side of the lake.

A reunion in Salzburg

by evat718

If all the rooms in the Schloss are booked or you're looking for something a bit less ornate than the Schloss, I encourage travelers to inquire about rooms in the Meierhof, a separate building on the grounds of the Schloss. Once home to Salzburg College, the Meierhof is now part of the Schloss hotel and conference center. My Salzburg College roommate and I loved returning to the Meierhof and staying there. The rooms are contemporary, spacious and comfortable ~ and of course you have the same beautiful views; and you still experience the rich history of the Schloss. Buffet breakfast (amazing!) is served in the Schloss each morning. We also took advantage of the bicycles that are available for guests as well and rode around several areas of the city and out to Hellbrunn.

Elegance.

We stayed here one night in November. What a find! It was so interesting to read about the history in the Hotel part. The castle was fantastic and we took a few hours after breakfast to look around.. The bedroom was large and very comfortable. We had to turn the heating off as it was on full blast when we arrived but that was easy. We slept very well. The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 was for the breakfast. It was absolutel fine but just like any other ordinary hotel breakfast and I expected a bit more..
