Great location, fine room... AND housekeeping found my diamond earring and turned it in!

by BabeBrack

The location and view are great! Fireplace in the room, nice little patio, wonderful bathroom. We were overwhelmed by the strong scent of cleaner upon arriving, but opened windows and returned an hour or so later... it was then okay. Here’s the main reason we’ll be back - I had unwittingly lost a diamond earring in the room and checked out. The hotel staff called us before we could even board the ferry and my husband ran back for it. BIG THANKS to the lovely, honorable housekeeper who has done her part to restore my faith in people!

Great location, but noisy

The Portofino location is great, overlooking the harbor right on Crescent Avenue. It’s an easy walk to everything. The only downside is that being on the Crescent Avenue roundabout means you get to hear all the golf carts used by locals and tourists in lieu of cars. The Golf carts are predominately gasoline powered, not electric, so on the roundabout they can make a fair amount of continuous noise. On the other hand, the beach and ocean with the boats in the harbor make a wonderful backdrop. golf carts are predominately gasoline powered, not electric, so on the roundabout they can make a fair amount of continuous noise. We loved our balcony, and the hotel has a sundeck that provides wonderful unobstructed views of the harbor as well.
