Overview

Foodies, environmentalists, and wanna-be farmers will all appreciate this unique lodging that combines an elegant farmhouse B&B with a working organic chicken and cattle farm. Green is the watchword here — from organic cotton towels, to LED lightbulbs, to the food waste recycled as animal feed and compost. The farm is run according to principles of animal and crop rotation (for example, chickens graze for worms on fields where cows have recently grazed for grass) and much of the meat and produce from the farm find their way into delectable country breakfasts.

The main house has a luxuriously appointed suite with a king-sized four poster bed and satin bedspread, decorated in an English country style; an adjoining room has a trundle bed for the kids. In addition, the inn has two cottages which can sleep up to six people each; and a farmhouse rental that can sleep eight. All of the rentals come equipped with full-sized kitchens, which are stocked before arrival with food for a make-your-own breakfast. During the stay, the owners are eager to proselytize about their farming techniques and happy to have kids (or grown-ups) lend a hand on feeding animals, picking vegetables, or gathering eggs.

Lovely farm stay!

by Emily S

The Inn at Valley Farms is exactly what we needed to get out of the hustle and bustle of NYC for a day. We arrived nearly at midnight but it was easy to get in and find our room. It was lovely to wake up to walk around the farm a bit. Breakfast was amazing. They really do have fresh cookies all the time. We were able to walk to the apple orchard across the way and even picked fresh flowers from the gardens on Valley Farms property. The house was lovely and we look forward to another city escape to NH soon!

Best place for a family!

We have actually stayed here several times and every time we love it. Everyone was so welcoming and there is so much to see and do in the area- the Inn at Valley Farms is a perfect base.

On the farm, you can follow some trails, see some animals, help feeding chickens and turkeys or just kick back, enjoy the weather and watch the sunrise and set. On Thursdays they have movie night in the barn!!! Oh- and they have a store open a couple days a week!

In the area there is a mountain lake(Surry), Bellows Falls shops and movie theater in the Opera house, train rides(in the summer they are out of Burlington about 2 hrs away but there is a fall/leaf peeper train about 35 mins). The Rockingham meeting house, a zillion old antique stores, local art and music, Walpole Creamery, Dairy barns, Keane main Street, Connecticut River. Alysons Orchard across the street.

Our daughter was 4 on our first trip and 15 on this one- both times she had a blast. When she was little she just liked hanging around the farm, hiking and finding barn kitties and stray chickens to hug. She also picked and ate about 30lbs of apples across the street. As a teen, still roaming the farm, movie night and loved the thrift vintage and antique store shopping. Also, helped feed the chickens and turkeys. (Apple picking wasn't open yet this trip)
