Overview

While the location on the campus of Michigan State University is impossible to beat, the upscale Kellogg Hotel may not be the best choice for families with young children because the staples that make hotels beloved by young people are missing here. There is no free breakfast or DIY Belgian waffle maker in the lobby, no heated indoor pool to splash and play in after a long day of sightseeing. However, if visiting East Lansing for the university, you will be steps from Spartan Stadium, Breslin Center, Munn Ice Arena, Tennis Center (which you can book for a game during your stay) and the school buildings themselves. Sip on herbal tea grown and locally produced by MSU students at the Bailey Greenhouse and Urban Farm available in all the rooms at the Kellogg, but choose a suite to enjoy a jetted tub, wet bar, parlor seating for four, pull out sofa, and one and a half bathrooms during your stay. Room service is available, Wi-Fi is complimentary, but there is a fee for parking at the hotel.

Poor experience at a normally reliable hotel

by clubeaster

Stayed here for probably the 10th time with 6 family members for a home football game ( definitely will NOT be rating the football teams performance) rooms are small but we knew that but the location and staff are typically worth the modest rooms we normally reserve a larger room at end of hall that has plenty of room for four people w a couch and large bathroom etc we did that this time however when we arrived none of those rooms were available despite our having reserved well in advance the gentleman at the desk gave us vouchers for breakfast the next morning which is generally good however This time not so much my wife had an omelette that was not cooked and the service was poor. Will likely give them another shot but very disappointed

Accommodations in the heart of Sparta!

I stayed here recently for a recruiting event on the MSU campus and had a great stay. The hotel itself is on the northwest corner of the MSU campus which is great walking distance to everything and you avoid the traffic/congestion. I arrived via Uber and check-in was extremely fast with very friendly employees. There is also a very nice Sprit Shop in the lobby where you could get 20% off with a coupon after checking in. My room was extremely large! I had a nice full sized bed with an adjoining living room area with a couch, etc. – more than I needed, but it was appreciated. The shower was a little weird, it was a circular curtain you pull around yourself – very minimalistic, but you also get water all over the bathroom floor. It was very quiet at night which was good for getting work done and sleeping. I had drinks in the hotel restaurant at night and they offered a nice selection of local craft beers as well as cocktails and the server was very nice. I also used the same restaurant for breakfast early in the morning and also had wonderful service – the breakfast tacos were excellent. Overall I highly recommend this hotel. I came for business but it would also be great for a football/basketball game as the Breslin Center and the stadium are right around the corner easy walking. There is also the Harrison Roadhouse that is right across the street which is a fun place.
