Located on the Dutch side, this small hotel sits directly on Simpson Bay Beach and is a short drive to the airport. The studios and suites offer full kitchens or kitchenettes with a refrigerator, microwave and stove. The suites can accommodate between two and six people. All of the guestrooms offer air conditioning and are only steps away from the sand. Kids will also love playing in the pool. The onsite restaurant called Tides is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

My wife and I stayed at this place many years ago, when it was called Mary's Fancy. We pre-paid the term we were staying. We were given one of the units facing the parking lot and it was very humid with no fans. We had asked for a certain type of room and it was given to someone else and this was the room we were given. All night long cars entered and exited the parking lot which made quite a bit of noise. We had to leave the windows and drapes open for ventilation. If we got up from bed we found ourselves crawling across the floor for privacy. We had pre-paid for a month, which was a mistake. The shower had a slight dribble of water, so taking a real shower was impossible.
I have read some negative reviews of this place and many are spot on and things haven't changed.
We left after one night, since it was a terrible place and frankly I am surprised it is still in business. They survive because their rates are cheap, but you get what you pay for. When we left we forfeited all that we paid. It was a lesson and a benefit for the owners of this hole that anyone planning to stay there should expect nothing, because that is what they will receive. The owners ripoff the public and people continue to stay at this place based upon the low rack rate.
The older woman was probably happy we left after one day, since she could re-rent the unit to someone else and make double.
When we left we moved to a very nice hotel on the French side and it was just a dream. It was more expensive, but well worth it.
I would advise anyone planning a stay on this island to pay extra for a better hotel, since this one frankly sucks.
This place, adjacent to the airport, is a St. Maarten tradition. Interesting serve yourself bar, shared library, and small enough to feel exclusive. Great beach to walk. Planes come in after lunch and can be (briefly) loud, but no aircraft noise issues at night. Get a cottage room.
