Overview

This tranquil, exotic and bucket-list resort holds the distinction of a National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World. The Lodge is an architectural stunner loaded with viewing platforms and open-air spaces. Situated in the northwest corner of the Metropolitan District of Quito, Mashpi Lodge sits at over 3,100 feet above sea level between the lower mountain rainforest and cloud forests in the heart of a 3,000-acre private reserve. All meals and snacks are provided in addition to abundant forest activities, including guided nature walks and butterfly experiences for the wee ones, and thrilling adventure for the older guests.

The sophisticated, modernist lodge is boutique in size with a maximum capacity of 47 guests, ensuring a sense of tranquility within the wonders of the cloud forest. Families can choose between the 20 Wayra rooms–366 square feet in size–that have either two full-size beds or one king-size bed. There are also three Yaku Suites (495 square feet), located on the first floor at the lodge’s northwestern end, all with king beds.

The resort’s laboratory, located adjacent to the main lodge, is home to a number of significant on-going experiments that have already led to the identification of several species new to science.

The littles have their own space for personal voyage of discovery in Mashpi Reserve, with kid-friendly tools that allow them to dig deeper and get inspired, accompanied by an expert who will awaken their love for science and nature.

Amazing nature and really amazing hotel

by BarcelonatoGuyana

If you are looking for a hotel with a true interest in protecting nature while staying in a formidable place, this is the place. Amazing combination of great hotel and nature conservation. Great service, rooms, food and great service. architecture impressive and amazing nature. lots of activities to do such as hiking, bird watching, waterfalls. Really good guides.

Poor customer service when things go wrong!

by Russell P

Our trip to Mashpi was cancelled by the Lodge the day before we were due to travel. I have no argument with that decision as it was unsafe in the recent riots. However, they have not repaid any of the 2.5k that they promised would be re-credited to my card, it is now 25 days and I have have had multiple unmet promises that the repayment will be made. I can pay them is seconds with a credit card and I know that the process is just as simple for them to refund but for some reason they are stalling. Utterly deplorable customer service, I will not be re-booking on my next trip to this fabulous country.
