Dated but does what you need

by naesc

Pros - relatively cheap lodging right across from main lodge (quick shuttle ride, walkable if you don't put ski boots on until lodge), decent enough free breakfast. Friendly staff.

Cons: whole place is very dated. Undoubtedly was a great in the 80s... but those days are long gone. pool is nicely heated but small and like everything else way past it's prime.

Long version...

The place is definitely dated and even the upper end balcony room we stayed in was a bit cramped for 2 adults and 2 kids. The "bathroom" sink was in the corner of the bedroom... Guessing the bathroom actually used to be a closet when people shared common bathroom.

Overall it's definitely from the bygone era where skiiers congragated in the common room of the inn they were staying at but this place doesn't staff or stock a bar so cant leverage that feature. But if you're traveling with a bunch of friends you could use those rooms to hang out.

The free breakfast is decent enough - eggs are tasteless but waffles and other sides we're good. Staff was friendly.

if you're just looking for a relatively reasonablly priced room right across from the mountain it works. it's walkable to lifts if you wear regular shoes and put ski boots on at lodge but if you have kids take the shuttle.

Bottom line - fine for a shorter trip but I'd look elsewhere if you're staying a full week or bothered by 80s rustic inn feel.

Very outdated

We recently stayed at The Mountain Inn on our long weekend trip to Killington, and the location is perfect. Very close to the main ski area with shuttles there every 20-30 min. The staff were so helpful and lovely, and they lent us shovels etc when we needed to dig our car out of the snow.

That being said...apparently the 1980 Olympic ski team stayed here at one point, and well, it hasn’t been remodeled since then. The hotel’s restaurant is now closed, and the free breakfast they offer isn’t worth eating. The rooms were clean and of a decent size, but the entire facility could use some new life.
