Speculation that Disneyland Resort will be adding a new luxury hotel is no longer a rumor. Disneyland Resort has submitted hotel plans to the City of Anaheim, requesting permission to construct a new hotel on the site of its current Downtown Disney parking lot.
If approved, Disneyland’s newest hotel will be the fourth hotel property at its California theme park, and will receive a four diamond rating. Plans call for 700 rooms, two swimming pools, a kids’ play area, a fitness center, and a rooftop restaurant with views of Disneyland’s nightly fireworks show. The new hotel would be the first property added to the theme park in 20 years. If approved, construction will begin in 2018 with plans to open the hotel in 2021.
