Reviews

Nirvana is an absolute gem tucked away right in the middle of 7 Mile beach in Negril!!

by Jeff W

I am a little reluctant to write this review, not because we did not enjoy our stay at Nirvana, exact opposite in fact, but I want to keep this little piece of paradise all to myself! But, that would not be fair to the property, the owners and the staff, and the cat has been out of the bag for years. So here is my review of Nirvana…TLDR, stay there, you will love it!

We stayed in the Owners Villa this last July and it was absolutely perfect. We had both the Villa and the adjoining single room which worked very well for my family of four in the Villa and my father in the singe room. From the pictures that we saw before the trip, none of them did justice to how nice the Villa is. You enter from the front (side) door to a very open space that included the kitchen, living room and dining area. This entire area is screened-in and it does get a very nice breeze from the ocean. In the living room area, there are wood shutters and when closed keeps this area nice and dark which was important as my two teens slept in this area on the couches. They had a TV to watch and it was a perfect little area for them. I was a little concerned before the trip if they were going to get hot at night, it was July and all, but between the ceiling fan and a desk fan they were fine. The Villa is surrounded by a lot of trees and vegetation and was shaded most of the day. This entire open area stayed quite cool through out the week for not having AC. The kitchen has just about everything you need if you want to cook on your own. We made breakfast just about every morning which was both convenient and saved us a ton of money. It has a full size fridge and freezer, I was worried that the property has no ice maker and I would be hunting for ice every day. But the freezer had about 12 ice trays, and that was plenty for our drinks by just filling them up once a day…the ice bucket was always full and my kids got to see how we made ice in the old days!

The master bedroom is right off the kitchen, very large and very cool. The only time the front area felt warm…was when we left the chilly bedroom! The bedroom is also screened on two walls with the same wood shutters to keep the light out and the AC in!! The King sized bed was super comfy…probably the nicest bed I have had in Jamaica.

There is a hallway behind the kitchen that runs from the master, to the door for the adjoining room, to an area where you can hang and store clothes (that is where the lock box is too) to finally the bathroom. The bathroom is huge!! Double sinks with a ton of counter space, large shower and the toilet and bidet. The back door of the bathroom leads to the outside private shower area which is also very nice and where I took most of my showers.

My dad’s room was small, but perfect for him. He had his own bedroom and bathroom and could either enter from his own outside door or come in through the connecting hallway. The only issue is that hallway enters into the bathroom, so you just have to knock first.

SO I am saving the best for last, and that is the veranda. OMG, that has to be the coolest place on 7 mile beach. I have previously stayed at Treehouse in their oceanfront suites, and I thought they were awesome...which they are, but this veranda takes the cake. It is huge…we had four leather chairs, a table with four chairs and a hammock in the corner. Sitting there, drinking my morning coffee and watching the world go by had to be one of my favorite things of the trip. It is so relaxing as you are only 40 yards to the water and can hear it lapping up against the shore. It was also a prime place to watch the sunset at night and the ceiling fan kept it quite cool no matter what time of day. I miss it!

This section of the beach was very quiet, it was low season but when we ventured in either direction it seemed busier in other places. Moses and Kevin kept the beach spotless every morning…in fact the grounds from the road to beach are kept immaculate. Patrick watched out for us by day, he had our chairs out when and where we wanted them without even asking. We kept our chairs right between the water and the veranda and never worried about leaving our belongings in them while either in the water or back up in the Villa, he would keep an eye on our stuff for us. Always felt safe there, the entire time. At night they have two security people on duty, Shine was down on the beach and knowing he was just a few feet away dismisses any security concerns. Our house keepers were Leonne and Lynn, very sweet ladies who did a great job keeping up with our messes! We never had a chance to have them cook for us, we had planned on it, but did not plan on grilling lobsters for ourselves twice during the week. We got lobsters straight of the boat, delivered right to our beach. For $6 they will light the grill (which was right behind our villa) and we cooked them ourselves. We had butter and garlic from our HiLo trip and went across the street to Best of the West for sides of Coleslaw and Rice & Peas…perfect dinner! Finally Sandra the manager came by at least once a day to check on us and to make sure everything was fine and if we need anything. The staff there is truly amazing and seemed not to be just doing their job, but had real concern that we enjoyed our vacation.

Also want to mention the owners, Lonnie, Stan and their daughter Marci. I talked to each of them on the phone before my trip and they were very helpful in answering any questions that I had and adjusting our original reservation to add the second room. Your Villa is awesome...I am not sure how you don't spend 1/2 a year there!!!

So we will definitely be back…Nirvana is an absolute gem tucked away right in the middle of 7 Mile. We thoroughly enjoyed it and it made for a great unforgettable vacation!

wonderful staff, very clean, excellent cooks!!

we loved Nirvana. location was perfect, central to everything on the beach. and our home away from home was comfortable, and quiet, as we needed. although one night the place next door had very very loud music and DJ, we managed to get through that.
