Nice but not the Regent

by Hivedoc

Recently in Taipei, I stayed both at the Regent and Okura. Both hotels are in the same neighborhood in proximity to the Zhongshan MRT. The Okura is quiet and elegant. The lobby is grand and reception staff multilingual and helpful. My room was attractive with a large modern bathroom and multi-function Toto toilet. My one complaint would be that my room smelled very musty and of mildew. I also would note that for the money, the Regent two blocks away is more elegant and far more lively.

Quiet Luxury hotel, superb location

by Robert S

We stayed there for two nights, took a tour of Taiwan and returned for another 2 nights. Really nice room, the concierge was incredibly helpful in answering questions and helping us plan out a sightseeing day. On our tour, we left something in each of two hotels which the tour guide had sent to the Okura Prestige and they were there when we arrived back. We had also stored two bags there during the tour. The lobby is beautiful. The location is excellent for access to the metro and for restaurants in the city. For a fabulous breakfast ( we loved the waffles with mangos) try the Melange Café which is a couple of blocks from the hotel.
