Moderately overpriced for what you get

by Heather S

I will start with the positive that the hotel staff was friendly and the beds were not uncomfortable. The pool was clean, but in the middle of the courtyard, which was filled with loud party goers. Our first opinion was the parking lot, which needed repairs. We were very skeptical when we saw the outside but pleasantly surprised when we saw the modern lobby. At check-in, the front desk staff was engaging and kind. When we got to our room, we had to fight with both door keys to open the door. We were finally able to get in, but when we returned from the pool later, we could not get either to work at all and had to stand outside our room and were freezing. Maintenance let us in and indicated they would return later to fix the door. He later told us he did his best, but it's an old lock and you just had to swipe very slowly and try multiple times. My son is a student at IUP and gave us a voucher for $20 off our room. They indicated they could not accept the coupon and gave us 2 free breakfast vouchers. When we went to breakfast at the on-site bar and grille, we were told breakfast was complimentary. After looking at the breakfast offerings, we passed and went to Eat N Park instead. It was your typical continental breakfast; however, they had some hot dishes available, but the food looked like it had been sitting quite a while. There were guests partying in the Courtyard outside our door well past midnight despite posted signs that quiet hours were 10pm to 9am. We were very sketchy when we saw guests arriving with cooler after cooler and it was very loud. Perhaps the final straw was the additional $50 hold on my card for the room which I was told at checkout was an extra hold in case of damage to the room. I know I signed and agreed that my card could be charged if there were damage, but no one told me they put an additional hold on my money and it's a holiday weekend, so it's holding until Wednesday. Definitely not work the $180 hold on my account or the "discounted" rate they indicated I received. We won't be back

ok place

I stayed for a conference. The food was lacking, meeting rooms were ok. Pool area was nice although it's right in the middle of everything. Bed was comfortable, but room needed updated. The staff was friendly.
