Overview

This small, downtown hotel has been a Palmer landmark since the 1950s. Thanks to a recent major remodel, the rooms are clean, modern and spacious. The Double Queen room is ideal for a small family, and includes a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, kitchen sink and coffeemaker. This is a simple, affordable accommodation that has a real family-friendly atmosphere. Sometimes that’s all you need.

The Pioneer Motel is located on a quiet street, away from traffic, in downtown Palmer. There are several casual-dining restaurants within walking distance of the motel, and a major grocery store is just three blocks away. The historic Colony House Museum is also located downtown. Palmer is home to several popular family-friendly farms. Kids will love feeding reindeer at the Reindeer Farm, followed by petting musk oxen at the Musk Ox Farm. After that, families can make the easy hike on the Pioneer Falls Trail to view the spectacular waterfall. You also won’t want to miss the Independence Mine State Historical Park, site of a large abandoned gold mine, in the mountains north of Palmer. With its affordable rates and historic vibe, the Pioneer Motel is a great choice for your Alaskan family vacation.

GREAT room!

by Lori B

This hotel was super clean and very roomy! We had lots of space to move around. The manager was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in town and close to everything. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Pioneer Motel and Cottages

We stayed in one of the cabins and it was great! Clean and comfy. We cooked several dinners in the kitchenette because eating out in AK is pricey. The staff was super helpful and the price was reasonable. No, it doesn't look like the Hilton but the bed was to die for and the sheets and towels were sweet smelling, new, big and soft. Definitely stay here again.
