Beach Hotel

I stayed for 3 nights at Portsmouth Beach Hotel for business reasons. I needed a clean room; where I could work with unfailing wifi and and nice safe environment. PBH fulfilled these needs well. The room was very clean; the floors were so clean when I wiped up water I spilled there was no dirt marks on the white cloth; the bedding was all white and spotless; the frig and oven were shining. The staff were friendly and professional - they helped me to access equipment that was not normally in the room and were flexible as my schedule was only confirmed day by day. The grounds are well kept and spacious enough I could practice yoga away from everyone outside. But i absolutely loved the location - so close to the sea you can take a swim in the clear waters at any time. You can walk along the beach for hours and the sounds of the waves are a great sleep aid in the night. I did not need the air-conditioning even though the room was small as the sea breezes never stopped. This is not a luxury hotel - so the decor is basic - but the price reflects that. For a cheap clean, safe place to stay I highly recommend it.

Lovely staff and location.

The 3 star reflects the cleanliness or should i say lack of in my room. There were dead bugs...beetles etc in bedroom and bathroom....a dead bird on my verandah...stained sheets and towels in the bathroom and although the bed itself was comfortable. ..2 pillows on bed with none to swap out were as lumpy and uncomfortable as all buggery.... On a good note though...the location was good the staff in both the restaurant and reception were all lovely..bubbly and very helpful.
