Handy location for access into London

by Barney757

Sidcup has excellent rail links into central London, the premier inn is just up from the station. Why pay London rates for accommodation, when there is an affordable, comfortable option. My stay was very good, rooms nicley equiped, beds very confortable, staff were really friendly and helpful.

Great stay - let down by evening meal.

This was our second stay at this Premier Inn. We confidently booked it as we had such a good experience the first time a year ago and there is a very convenient car park less than 5 minutes walk away which is reasonably priced. Check in was very efficient and the staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our room was extremely good - quite large, very clean and comfortable. We booked a breakfast ( buffet style here ) as we always do when staying at a Premier Inn and this too was as expected. They were running a bit low on some items but the breakfast chef was vigilant and more food was made available immediately. So far - excellent.
We booked a table for our evening meal as we had a long journey ahead of us and needed the convenience of somewhere we trusted to eat. However, when we ordered, we were told a new menu was about to be implemented which meant quite a few items were off of the current menu. This wasn't ideal but we were short of time as we had transport to catch and didn't really have time to find somewhere else to eat. Some of our order had to be substituted as our original choice wasn't available. When we got home the next day, I checked the breakdown of our bill to discover that where our menu choice had had to be substituted for something more expensive, we had been charged the higher price ( sweet potato fries instead of skin on chips was one example ). I know I should have checked the bill before we left but we were short of time but I feel that we should not have been charged for replacement items that were more expensive when the original was not available. Also, I requested no mushrooms and my meal arrived with enough mushrooms for two people and my steak was quite pink in the middle when I had requested it well done. So, all in all, the meal wasn't great and although we will definitely stay here again , we won't be using the restaurant for our evening meal.
To sum up, if you want a great place to stay at a reasonable price then definitely stay here but I can't recommend the restaurant for a main meal.
