Brief cultural visit to London

by Storyteller66106

This is my 3rd visit to Qubic London but it will be my last.
The hotel has changed in decor and atmosphere .
Two thirds of the ground floor is now for dining and the lounge area is very cramped and uninviting .
We were on the 4th floor and the drinks machine for the entire floor was out of order. Which meant that we could not get a hot drink when we checked in ,or returned back at night or get a cuppa first thing in the morning.
Staff are present but seem unclear of their roles. We had to give our room number to enter the dining room but we were not escorted to a table. We chose a table and went to get some food but on our return another couple had sat in our places. While a member of staff looked on.
Breakfast had been pre ordered but there was only buffet food available. I wanted a poached egg on toast and although there was a breakfast chef on duty I was informed that it was only food from the buffet . Again one of the two drinks machines was out of order. My daughter overheard a waitress asking for more food to replenish the buffet but was told that although they had the food he’d been instructed not to put it out!!!! But he relented and gave her more food.
So all in all we were glad to be on our way.
This hotel was such a quirky comfortable place. With young friendly staff . But seems to have become mainstream and lost

Pleasant with some improvement needed

Last minute booking of the basement room as it was just going to be a sleep and get up and go. Was surprisingly better than I expected for the cost.

Unfortunately greeted by a very rude woman at the reception who doesn't know how to deal with customers. The guys the following day were friendly.

Upon arriving in the basement room, there a dominating sewage smell but we adapted after 5 mins.

Rooms have had thought put into them and I liked the unconventional decor. Beds and pillows very comfy. Shower was good thought bathroom could have done with a clothes hook. Wi-Fi was very good.

Reception area was cool, had games and a great vibe to it in general

Would definitely stay again
