Overview

Imagine opening in the fall of 2015 and soon being named one of the Top 60 Best New Hotels and Resorts in the World on the 2016 Condé Nast Traveler Hot List.

The very pretty Quirk Hotel sits just outside of the fashionable Fan neighborhood in what is coming to be called the Arts District thanks to the many galleries popping up in the area. The Virginia Museum Fine Arts is just a four-minute drive from the Quirk and both the Fan and Carytown are also an easy drive of five and nine minutes away, respectively.

The Quirk boasts pink- and gray-hued guestrooms in family-fun layouts including rooms with two doubles, a king, or a terrace king (a cot can be included). If you want to spring for something fancier, check out the loft room (two king beds on two floors) or the one-bedroom suite (two rooms including a bathroom and powder room). All guestrooms come with hardwood floors and soft area rugs, free Wi-Fi, and a wall-mounted 42-inch HD LCD flat-screen. Feel free to call in advance to ask staff to remove honor bar items from the mini-fridge (no fee to you).

While the property doesn’t have a pool for kids, the Quirk does offer complimentary bikes to families that can be used up to four hours at a time. After a ride, the entire family will love the insanely lovely view from the rooftop bar designed with maximum view enjoyment in mind. The property’s restaurant, Maples & Pine, serves American dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.

The best in Richmond

by Tim S

Excellent across the board including the restaurant- Maple and Pine. This hotel meets the highest international standards. Any planning a stay in Richmond should stay here. My only caution. If you do. Not want a young vibe, look elsewhere.

Make sure that the equipment on the roof has been thoroughly secured. Otherwise you'll be subjected to a banging noise all night if your room is on the roof. We lost several hours of sleep, despite repeatedly calling the front desk. In the end, the hotel did not charge us for the room which was the professional way to handle this, though we were only expecting a discount. Consequently we will stay there again because it is a beautiful, well-appointed, well-situated, fun place and the staff are friendly and engaging. Food is good and management clearly cares about customer service and reputation.
