Overview

The Raakani Villas & Spa is located steps away from the beach that is home to one of the world’s most famous table reefs. Reef sharks, sea turtles, rays, and colorful schools of tropical fish regular make appearances to delight snorkelers and scuba divers. The resort has an in-house water sports facility to supply guests with all they’ll need to enjoy life under the sea. Modern rooms accommodate two adult guests with cribs available for the tiniest of travelers. Every room is fitted with air-conditioning, comfortable furnishings, flat screen televisions, and private baths. An onsite restaurant serves meals from around the world, along with high tea and a cocktail hour for adults.

Not what we were expecting

We had booked Raakani for 4 nights. We left after 1 which the staff were very accommodating about. The guest house was not to our taste at all, you sort of felt like you had a room in somebody else’s home and it was just a little bit too weird. I think unfortunately the pictures have been taken to show something that is not quite representative of what it’s actually like. The bed linen was stained but other than that the room was clean.

The beach in front of the hotel is not a bikini beach. Excursions are expensive in Guraidhoo, we changed to Maafushi, accommodation is better here and you can get half day snorkel trips for $25.

We are sure this is the best option to stay in Guraidhoo. The new bikini beach is just outside the bedrooms, amazing sea views, close to the harbour and great price-value relationship. It is very convenient if you intend to do diving and it has great comunal areas as well. Since the owners of Manta Divers Dive Center took over the place is just getting better and better. Try the Maldivian breakfast and enjoy the sunset!
