There are two great draws of Rabbit Ears. First, the prices are among the best in the area. Rates are as low as it gets. Second, the location in Steamboat Springs provides easy access to some of the best ski terrain the nation has to offer. It’s a good idea to fuel up before hitting the slopes. Families will want to take advantage of the complimentary continental breakfast. Laundry facilities are also on the property. Skiing isn’t the only crowd-pleaser at Rabbit Ears. Guests can take hot air balloon rides, dog sled journeys or go to a rodeo. Across the street, the Old Town Hot Springs has a myriad of activities including waterslides, hot mineral springs and a huge 25-yard lap pool. Families receive discount pool passes to the hot springs. Kids 12 and under stay free. Most rooms have private balconies overlooking the Yampa River. All units feature free high-speed wireless. Downtown guests can visit an outdoor mall style of shopping with many stores. A free city bus line stops right at the motel.

- Free continental breakfast
- Affordable, great value
- Location in Steamboat
I can’t speak for the other rooms, but ours was apparently recently refurbished, clean and quiet. The room with double queens was a bit pricey for what I would normally pay for this quality of a room (about $130/nite for two) but to be expected in Steamboat. Amenities included a small coffee maker, refrigerator, television, and telephone. On the nightstand was a clock with built-in USB plug-ins for smartphones, etc.
Their included continental breakfast (open at 5:30 am) was average in a comfortable room off the office.
It’s located in the downtown Steamboat area with restaurants and shops within walking distance.
Office staff were courteous and helpful.
Based on favorable reviews we booked a queen room. Just a cheap motel with hard bed, small and gloomy. Noise from road, other rooms and parking lot. Breakfast continental, but don’t book a room based on this free breakfast. For a few dollars more look elsewhere.
