Reviews

If you can afford it, stay elsewhere!

by Shvonne L

I'll preface this by saying I've stayed at well more places than I've reviewed on TripAdvisor so my expectations were set for a motel. However, upon walking into room 221 my rating went from 5 to 4 stars. The ceiling had extensive old water damage and the shower had a little mold in it and in the ceiling. I let that go. Then I went to bed. I travel with my own pillow so I went to move the pillows and noticed the pillows had what looked like "I sat in the washer too long before moving to the dryer" stains. Didn't sleep on them but down to 3 stars the rating went. I checked in on Friday and checked out Monday morning. Sunday night when I went to bed, I was fixing my pillow for bed and encountered a baby spider in the bed. I take off all my sheets, inspected the bed and tried to go to sleep. I had to end up taking something to get to bed...down to 2 stars. I was done in the morning. Every night I had to call for towel sets since they only give you one. I forgot to call Sunday night given the spider thing. I call Monday morning to ask for just a face cloth and Veronica tells me "you can have one if you come get it." WTH! So I go get it and she apologizes for sounding rude on the phone but they don't have housekeeping 24hrs. Okay, got it, she can't leave the front desk UNTIL I see her outside getting her nicotine fix... yup, 1 star it is.

Falsely accused

I stayed here once before and decided to make a reservation again through their website because of a buy 2 get one free stay offer. After a long hard day I arrived with dinner to check in and the front desk clerk informed me I was placed on the "do not rent" list. This was my first experience with such a situation so I was very upset. Fortunately there was another red roof in the next town so I was given the business card of the manager and sent off. When I got to the other red roof and finally got into a room (dinner was cold), I checked the receipt from my last visit to this red roof and noticed they tried to charge me a smoking fee. I did not smoke in the room. The next day I went to the front desk and explained my situation mainly to clear my name lol. I was told that they had found cigarette butts which I had extinguished before going back inside on the counter closest to the door. This lead to their assumption that I smoked in the room. Their are so many problems with this assumption. Why would I only smoke near the door? How could I smoke in the room with my dog?? Why wouldn't I hide the evidence??? Housekeeping even saw me outside smoking a couple of times. I'll make the assumption that someone just enjoys charging smoking fees and placing people on the "do not rent" list. This was a huge waste of time and money and I was very offended to be treated like that. I just hope this type of behavior isn't common at red roofs.
