Excellent Customer Service

by justandtrue

I had a billing issue and the general manager was very prompt, attentive and kind. All the staff with whom I interacted with, were very helpful and nice. I was pleasantly surprised by the promptness of the response and general courtesy displayed by the General Manager, Ms. Davis.

I really wanted to like this hotel, as it was a block from where I needed to be, and the street address was perfect. But this is an old, old Residence Inn. It taught me that not all Residence Inns are the same.

The hotel is attached to a shopping arcade, which is cute to walk through. Downtown Cleveland is at your doorstep, and directly outside your window if you stay on the Euclid Avenue side. The 4th Street restaurants are around the corner. The location is great.

My room showed its wear. It was clean, but its condition was not at the level I expected. The shower drain ran slow so the water was up to my ankles, the shower curtain bar sagged so the curtain was under my feet, the shower pressure pulsed (and it was not set for that!), the AC never stopped running all night and kept a consistent Vroom Vroom beat, and the mirror was peeling. I don't know how else to describe the mirror. The reflective material was literally peeling off the back.

If you've stayed at a Residence Inn, you know the typical breakfast. But even that seemed to be without luster here.

The front desk clerk asked about my stay as I was checking out, and I shared these thoughts. His response: "Well, this is an old hotel."

Old, and expensive. I won't be coming back.
