Reviews

Very nice airport hotel

by Jody C

Due to the Boeing Max 8 issues, my August 17 flight was cancelled so I had to fly into SLC a day early. I chose the Residence Inn for the one night and was not disappointed. The property is spotless, as was my room. The biggest asset is the people -- everybody from housekeeping to the front desk to the shuttle driver was pleasant. I had a one-bed two room suite; plenty of room for 1-2 people but it might be a bit cramped with 3 or more. The bed was a double rather than a queen/king which was fine for me. The bathroom sink area is separate from the toilet/commode area, which is nice because one person can be in the shower while the other is using the sink.

The kitchenette was very nicely appointed -- stovetop, microwave, toaster (in the cabinet), dishware and glassware for four. I don't know if the refrigerator icemaker is slow or not working, but there's an ice machine on the 1st floor so it's easy to get ice.

The free breakfast was very nice. It's what I expected from a hotel breakfast -- eggs and sausage this morning -- also waffles, oatmeal, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit. One thing I liked is that they had large plastic cups as well as small ones for the juice. I was able to use one large plastic cup rather than several trips to the juice machine with one cup.

As usual with Residence Inns there's no on-site restaurant. There isn't much within walking distance but the Courtyard next door has a restaurant and the Hilton Garden Inn (a short walk further) has a restaurant. This hotel advertises restaurant delivery but I didn't use it.

The pool was very nice. It's not a large area, but there's enough sitting room and the pool is large enough to do short laps. The hot tub is properly hot and has strong jets.

They do have a free airport shuttle which, as of this review, is "on demand" rather than on a set schedule. As others have posted, the shuttle is shared among a few hotels so you may need to build extra time into your schedule.

I did have a couple small housekeeping glitches, but I'm not sure if these are common to all Residence Inns or just a blip in my stay. In the tub/shower area there was no bath mat/floor towel. I used a regular towel on the floor to minimize my chances of slipping. There was also no plastic laundry bag in the closet; I could have used one for my wet swimsuit.

Would I recommend this hotel? Yes. The location is convenient to the highway as well as to the airport and other attractions.

we've seen better Residence Inns

We stayed one night at this RI. It is not renovated and therefore seems a bit out of date. The breakfast was good, but the pool was out of service which was a big disappointment for our kids. They were adjusting the chlorine, something that could be done during the early morning hours before guests want to use the pool.
