POOR Communication Practices!

by Gregory C

I checked into this hotel at 12:30pm on August 8th, 2019 using Marriott Reward Points. I am a Gold Elite Lifetime Member of the Rewards Program and have stayed at many "Marriott" properties for years and 99% of the time, there is not a problem. After arriving at my room, I noticed that a large dog was barking in the room above me. The Housekeepers assured me they would take care of it. I proceeded to unpack and turned on the TV but a message came on the screen that it was attempting to find a signal. I called the front desk and was told that all TV's were out as the Satellite Antenna had gone out but was assured it was being worked on and would be fixed shortly. Four (4) hours later I called the front desk but there was no Answer. I waited and called again but there was no answer again. Finally, I walked up to the front desk and was told "Sorry - I was busy with a customer when you called." I inquired about the TV and was told that they had no idea if it would be fixed. When I asked "WHY WASN'T I INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO TV'S WHEN I CHECKED IN?" The Manager (Joseph) did not properly explain. To his credit, the Manager did call TownPlace Suites, the Fairfield Inn and Courtyard Hotels (all local properties) but NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE AT ANY OF THOSE MARRIOTT OWNED PROPERTIES IN ORDER TO SEE IF I COULD CHECK INTO THEIR HOTEL. JOSEPH, THE MANAGER, EVEN CALLED SOME OF THEM BACK AGAIN AND "NO ANSWER."

This is the Marriott for God Sakes, not the Wyndham! Communication failures all around Marriott Properties in Clearwater. I was offered a few points for the communication breakdown. I don't think this is necessarily a bad property (although the furniture and carpeting is dated) but I think they had a terrible day and that is why I can't give them more than one star. PERHAPS IF THE WOMAN AT THE FRONT DESK OF THE RESIDENCE INN WOULD HAVE ANSWERED THE TELEPHONE I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIS HOTEL TWO STARS.

Not fit to be a Marriott

Our stay was a nightmare. As soon as you walk into the rooms it has a musty smell like old wet carpet, the kitchen was not clean the bathrooms looked like it was not scrubbed for ages. The carpet was stained and never maintained. I’ve stayed with Marriott for the past 20 years and never stayed at a filthy hotel like this one. It’s a shame for the company, as soon as I walked the room I started washing the dishes and glasses because there was dry food stuck to it. The bathroom tub was filthy with hair and egg shells in there. Everything was dirty about this hotel. Management or franchise owner need to consider major renovations and training to all house keeping personal to be trained on how to clean rooms. This hotel is a shame for the Marriott chains
