The Jordan Pond House

1 Park Loop Road, Acadia National Park, Seal Harbor , 04605, ME

Tea and popovers at The Jordan Pond House is a tradition that dates back to the 19th century. Located along the Park Loop Road in the middle of Acadia National Park, the original structure sadly burned down in 1979; the current incarnation, however is a spacious, welcoming space with plenty of outdoor tables in season overlooking the wonderful scenery of Jordan Pond and the twin mountains known as “The Bubbles” at its end. The popovers really are a wonder here — crisp on the outside and all egg-y and gooey on the inside, served with Chai, coffee or strawberry lemonade in addition to the classic tea. Call ahead in order to put your name on the waiting list during busy times in early afternoon. The restaurant isn’t just for teatime, however, serving fresh renditions of New England classics — among them crab cakes, lobster stew and prime rib — for lunch and dinner.
